WP Glossary – How To Make An A to Z Of Glossary Items

Basic example:

[glossary_atoz /]

Restrict to certain letters, or change the order:

[glossary_atoz alpha='a,b,c,z,y,x' /]

Restrict to group

[glossary_atoz group='ubuntu' /]

Add excerpt to term item:

[glossary_atoz desc='excerpt' /]

Add full description to term item:

[glossary_atoz desc='full' /]

These can be combined:

[glossary_atoz alpha='a,e,i,o,u' desc='excerpt' group='nginx' /]

There are no glossary items.

  1. Is there a way for the atoz page to show links to empty groups? Basically we do not have any terms that start with ‘i’ so it does not show. We would like it to show up be either not go anywhere or show a page that says there are no terms that start with that letter.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance, Jim

  2. Is it somehow possible to show an a to z list and automaticly show all the entries of a given letter? For instance auto show al the entries under letter A automaticly and when pressing on an other letter only show the listing of this letter like the plugin does allready.

      1. Also looking for this feature.
Would be really nice to have 🙂

btw: The alpha switch has no effect!

  3. Hey,

is it possible to add a color to the selected menu item? I’ve tried many ways with no positive results. I’ve made it in my main menu but I have no idea how to do it in the glossary.
I hope you can help me!

    Regards,

    Shipi

  4. Hello!
I never got to do, to list alphabetically.
Is there a problem with Cyrillic fonts?
short codes to insert different but nothing helped.
    And another question:
can I make the tooltip shown automatically (without inserting each time around the word short code)?
    Hope for an answer!

p.s. sorry for my terrible English

    1. Hi Alexander, your English is just fine 🙂

So you’re saying that your glossary terms don’t display in alphabetical order? I am personally not sure how it works with non-roman alphabets so i can’t speak to that. But i just want to make sure you turned on the alphabetical sorting option in the Glossary Options (found in your Glossary menu item on your back end.)

  5. Hello, is it possible to have URL with group name?

    now I have:
    mydomain.com/glossary/item

I would like to have links like this:

    mydomain.com/glossary/group-name/item

  6. Do you have a screen shot of what this is supposed to look like. I’m not clear what this code is supposed to show.

  7. Hi maybe there is an obvious step i am missing but i am not getting my alphabet jump links at the top of my glossary (click on the letter, takes you to the terms that start with that letter..)

Is there a shortcode for this or do I need to create this php myself?
